Tailscale builds a secure mesh overlay network using the WireGuard VPN protocol, enabling peer-to-peer, end-to-end encrypted connections between any devices, services, or workloads, across clouds, on-premises, and hybrid environments, without requiring firewall changes, public IPs, or complex configuration. It enforces least-privilege access through identity-based ACLs and integrates with existing identity providers via SSO and SCIM.
